Support for young parents

Introduction

Taking care of young children is a really difficult, frustrating and challenging job at the best of times. (Oh, and rewarding!).

Add to that:

• Money is in seriously short supply
• You want to be out with your friends instead of being stuck at home watching ‘Tricia’ again.
• You feel old and frumpy.
• You’re worried about what your family, friends or neighbours think of you.
• People always seem quick to say you’re not doing a good enough job looking after your children.
• You’re not sure if you’re looking after your kids properly or feeding them the right things.

Now, that’s pressure, and it’s hard – really hard – being a young parent.

But…

There are young people out there brining up their children wonderfully.  Sometimes against all the odds.  And they will probably be using agencies and support groups to complement and build on their own parenting skills.
