Exercise

Did you know that ½ an hour of moderate exercise (e.g. walking, playing football, jogging, dancing etc) 5 times a week will reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity?  Exercise also improves your mood and reduces mild depression.

LEAP works with 9-25 year olds across the area to increase physical activity in this age group.  A  wide range of free and low-cost activities are on offer, including dance, skate-boarding, aerobics, bmx-ing, hiking, cycling, conservation and basket ball to name a few.

Health walks – This was designed with people on low-incomes in mind – it doesn’t cost anything to go for a walk!  The PCT currently provides a led walk every Wednesday (the frequency will increase in the summer months).  Walkers meet outside the café in lower Alexandra Park at mid-day.  A great way to get fit and meet people!
