Sexuality

Introduction

Being heterosexual is so much taken for granted in our society even now that most people just assume they are going to grow up heterosexual and stay that way.  No-one knows for sure what makes someone gay, lesbian or bi-sexual.  People often realise that they are gay, lesbian or bi-sexual when they’re very young, while for other people this may happen later in life.

Falling in love with someone of the same sex, or being turned on by them can be really exciting and inspiring.  But it can also feel very scary and overwhelming, because society often surrounds us with messages telling us that being lesbian, gay or bi-sexual is wrong.  This can make it even more difficult for people who want to talk to someone.
